About the queers in the kitchen

Today we are interviewing the two authors of our blog:

Interviewer: So, how did you have the idea of doing a blog?

Alex the Mushroom: Me and Marcel were talking, ehm, and were talking about how if we had enough money we would run the best restaurant ever and then we realised that this was completely impractical right now. So we decided to do a blog until we can own the restaurant.

Marcel the Avocado: Ehm, I don't really know what to add. That was a quite good explanation.

The Mushroom: [laugh]

Interviewer: Why would you want to be a mushroom or an avocado and not just refer to yourself with your names?

The Mushroom: 'Cause Marcel forced me to choose!

The Avocado: I didn't mean to do that, I'm sorry.

[Both interviewees laugh]

Interviewer: So, let's get back to the point. Why did you choose to be the vegetable and the fruit you chose?

The Avocado: I quite like avocados and I sometimes feel avocadoish, so I thought that would be a good option for me.

The Mushroom: Because I didn't like them and I wouldn't try them for a while and then I tried them and it was good. Like this blog, hopefully! No? [laugh]

Interviewer: Could you explain the queer and cooking?

The Mushroom: You go first.

The Avocado: Me? Ok, well. Ehm. I think that currently everything is already over-explored and even if we want to pretend we're cool by playing a queer role we will still not get there. We had to come up with something new, something better, something unexplored and as we both like cooking we thought of making a cooking blog. But again, there is too many cooking blogs out there and no-one would read it. By queering the blog we developed a great marketing strategy that was hidden under an anticapitalist queer concept. And actually no-one would find out until the publication of this interview!

The Mushroom: Like... It kind of gives you some freedom, breaking structures and shit, plus I'm queer and I'm vegan so it makes sense, especially after studying queer theory for a year.

Interviewer: Thank you very much. I hope your blog is a success and I wish you all the best.
